GREAT EARTHQUAKE – AUTOBIO (Zine & Digital)
Releases May 18th, Tempo Music Records 001
Autobio is a deeply personal, 12-track album (36 minutes) recorded and mixed at home in Melbourne by Noah Symons of Great Earthquake and mastered by the one and only Mikey Young.
Delivered in a mostly post-punk quality, Noah shares his troubled childhood, intense religious upbringing, pure love for sport, discovering music, navigating adolescence, and so much more. From playing Robin Hood, enduring home schooling, his parent's separation, love of Aussie rules, to winning a cricket banner competition at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, this nostalgic reflection is both revealing and emotional.
The first single 3. Chopsticks is about a teddy bear which, was given to Noah at birth and speaks about the attachment to it and its longevity. It’s a minimal dub bass and drum freak out with deep spoken vocals.
This album is also inspired by the deadpan ramblings of Dean Blunt on 100, and the energy and delivery of Life Without Buildings on Any Other City.
Autobio is the first to be released album by Tempo Music Records and the seventh full length from Great Earthquake in the unique fashion of a physical zine, which includes a digital download of the album via Bandcamp.
